Gavin Morrison is a writer, curator and publisher. He is currently working on a book, The Malcontents which explores the fate of the cannons sent by James Boswell to the Corsican Republic in aid of the fight against the French invasion of 1768. The book traces the story through a series of historical and contemporary objects and narratives to consider the instabilities and convergences of histories. In relation to this book he held a Research Fellowship at Lewis Walpole Library, Yale University, USA in 2017. He was the Director of Skaftfell – Center of Visual Art, Seyðisfjörður, Iceland 2018-2020. He is also developing an exhibition of the work of the architect Berthold Lubetkin (1901-90) for Tbilisi, Georgia. Lubetkin was born in Tbilisi but is all but unknown in Georgia, however his work often drew from the social complexities of the Caucasus and extensively referenced Georgian vernacular culture.
